Your top ten North East brands!
The Journal (a regional Newspaper) has been running a series of “Think North East first” articles, and wow was I gobsmacked to see 1DayLater in the list of top ten North East brands!!
Ok..we’re at the bottom of the list, but its the same list as Nissan, Abbey Well & Newcastle Brown Ale!
Whoa
Roll up roooll up..it's 1DayLater intro voiceover...
Hark!
Here’s the opportunity to become a part of the 1DayLater intro! We need someone to do a 30 second scripted intro and yes it could be you! The question is..do you have a soothing voice, tantalising tonsils, or are just plain smashing with the ol’ mouthwords?
Man or lady all are welcome, date is to be announced soon but likely to be a weekend. We can pay you in beer or snacks or...

A better risk matrix
The first of our Data Visualisation posts and it’s hopefully something you’ve seen before - good old Risk Analysis!
When trying to describe risk, it’s normal to get a list of possible problems and give them each a likelyhood and a severity - what normally pops out are hard to read risk matrices. They require time to be studied and understood before you can draw any conclusions -...

Super Mondays #8
Super Mondays is a North-East geek entrepeneur group and I recently joined to build up my network and to do the usual teach / learn thing that goes on. It was David Coxon who told me about the event at the Thinking Digital conference a fortnight ago, he’s a real nice chap and I’m really psyched to “get amongst” the other gurus.
At tomorrows* event I’ll be just...

The 1DayLater salesman?
This guy is an inspiration! Ok granted it’s “Lefty” from Sesame Street but look at him, he just oozes charm. I’d buy that “O”

Starting a business...
…is like making love to a beautiful woman. Suggest something that’s never been done and with enough capital you can make it happen. You might need a partner or two to tackle the challenge, but if you can keep going long enough you can make a big deposit when you withdraw.
On a serious note, the business plan is due soon, it’s looking really good but we still have a few...

The home office
After much deliberation over location, me and Paul agreed that Westgate Road is the perfect spot for a new home with our 1DayLater office. It’s central, up-market, fairly priced, well sized, and generally ticks all the boxes. I’ll be sad to leave my friends in Fenham, but the home office will allow us to be a lot more productive, so it’s cool.
The house hunt begins tomorrow

Greetings...
Well I can see David has made a fine job of the 1DayLater blog design…but that’s hardly a surprise! As this is my first post I want to give a big hello from me! If you’d like to know more about me check my personal page.
Thinking Digital 2009 was really quite special. The word conference makes me think of drab geeks with dull voices but the reality was totally different. Musical...

New blog design
Yus, you’re now looking at the new design for the 1DayLater blog, isn’t it lovely? It’s taken me around 5 hours to do all-in-all and I’m quite happy with it, I might add in a comment system at some point (if people ask me to)

Thinking Digital 2009
Now, I don’t want to reiterate what’s well covered - you can read more about the conference on the Thinking Digital site, but I will say that the topics were awesome and insanely broad. When you hop from particle physics to cloud computing to the science of aroma to marketing to networking to data visualization (and so on) it creates a truly wonderful and surreal experience. Most of...

It's my birthday!
I’m 25 today and I’m in the middle of a 3 day conference so I’ve decided to celebrate tomorrow instead. It’s High Contrast at Digital and I can’t wait! I haven’t seen Kitten (my lovely girlfriend) in over 2 weeks so that’ll be awesome too!
For now you can see a cute pic of me and Paulo!

Our new business cards
We managed to get some tickets to the Thinking Digital conference next week (thanks SSV), so we decided that it’s best to have some business cards to throw about the place while we’re there!
Aren’t they pretty? Paul’s has his activity graph and we knocked up 5 variant slogans to boot:
Save Time
Clock In
Keep Track
Take Note
A Slice Of Life the name of...

The pitch was good!
I really can’t believe it, it went really bloody well! In fact, I don’t think we could have asked for a better response!! “The best pitch they’d heard in years”
Mind, we arrived about an hour late, with 10 minutes to spare before our slot, honest to god I was really worried we weren’t going to make it on time. Lucky thing that we did!
Short post because we...

Soon we pitch to the investors (eek!)
We’re nearing the end of the Sunderland Software Ventures course, which has given us an excellent overview of how to create and run a business and also the caveats of the software industry. We both benefitted from the seminars: Goals, Strategies, Finance, Management, Sales, Intellectual Property, Innovation, Development. Mind, some of the finance was over my head, and some of the codey stuff...
