Online, the Comment is King!
In the real world (the one I’m disconnected from) business-people will tell you that “Cash is King”, and while I can appreciate the sentiment I’ve never experienced it first hand, so I’m not the man to talk about that…
However, the online world has taught me that “Comment is King” and I think that it’s really, really important that I explain...

The Milo High Club
A little recap recent tech goings on involving a certain Milo Yiannopoulos:
Writing for the Telegraph, Milo wrongly reported on the terrible state of Tech in the North
He quickly received many comments from upset Northerners (including me and Paul)
In order to set things straight, Herb Kim invited Milo to come to Newcastle and experience Think and a Drink and meet the local scene
So last...
Morton Kombat II!
Today we met with our new business mentor David Morton to talk about the finer points of running 1DayLater and to generally get another angle into digital businesses. David is clearly a very balanced fella, with a keen ear and a thorough understanding of building and running software companies.
This time it’s business…
After exploring possible futures for Team King, for example:

The journey is the reward :)
I’ve written a brief rundown of the 1DayLater journey so far, if you’re interested in what help is available in the North East or maybe just the life cycle of a really fresh company, then dip in!
March
After seeing David’s tinkering with a time-logging system, I persuade him to go into business

Thinking Digital 2009 - 2 months on
Herb Kim of Codeworks just told me that the Thinking Digital Conference highlights video has been completed and y’all can watch it for a little insight into #TDC-09!
As lovely as the video is, I don’t think you could ever do the conference justice without: a) being there; b) talking to someone who went there or c) reading this here legendary blog.
Now, if the camera was...

Mighty Morten Power Strangers!
With a title like that I could write for the Sun!
In the day we’ve been programming, Morten Fangel has already taught me the principles of OAuth - what a legend! We’ve created the service provder (back-end) and will look at how to create a consumer (the interface that peeps will use to access 1DayLater).
Writing code in the garden… mostly
I might be generalising, but there is...

Morten Kombat! Security lockdown
The time has come to nail down the OAuth part of the 1DayLater API, which is coming along rather nicely. Morten Fangel, the veritable OAuth boffin is landing in bonny Newcastle on Monday and together we will take on this specialist task.
could you resist the temptation?
Being a hospitable bunch, he’s staying with me and Paul in the family home for a few nights, and we’ll no doubt...

Have pecs of steel...nay..titanium..
Greetings
On my travels through the wonderous internet I came across a website called Hundredpushups. Being a bit of en exercise freak this made me almost spit out my cup of tea. At the time I could manage 43 off the bat and nearly sobbed with the pain afterwards :) 100..impossible surely. The goal, of course, to manage 100 consecutive pushups by the end of the program.
So still sceptical, I...

A peek into 1DayLater
Me, Paul, our Dad, and local coder Peter Beckwith have all been using the 1DayLater prototype since January and we’ve decided to give you a little peek into our working lives. We habitually enter how we spend our time into 1DayLater like so:
“1h30, The Great North Run Project, Working on visualisations”
It takes about 5 seconds to do, and we typically make 5-10 entries a day....

The British Connection
Alongside the usual swarthe of awesome attendees, cool food and free beer, last night’s Think and a Drink played host to speakers from the Digital Mission (DM) which had me rather hot under the collar! The idea behind the DM is to build groups of British businesses and send them off to brilliant IT related events in America to take them by storm! The events include LA, San Francisco and...
