Thinking Digital 2009 - 2 months on

Herb Kim of Codeworks just told me that the Thinking Digital Conference highlights video has been completed and y’all can watch it for a little insight into #TDC-09!

As lovely as the video is, I don’t think you could ever do the conference justice without: a) being there; b) talking to someone who went there or c) reading this here legendary blog.

Now, if the camera was pointed at me, I’d probably say something along the lines of:

Any event that can turn such a varied rabble of minds into a buzzing collective of friends gets my vote - Viva le 2010!

Because the King Brothers are rather new to networking, having the privilege to attend #TDC-09 as our first event was more than excellent! Being exposed to such a high calibre of event means that we know how these things should pan out:

  • talk to everyone you can - each connection is useful
  • be excited and excitable - we all forget the dull people
  • brush up on relevant happenings - people love it

2 months on, and the made at #TDC-09 are still helping us carve the way 1DayLater is forming and has even given us some good friends, a lawyer, advisors, and promised our first customers!

Morten Kombat! Security lockdown

The time has come to nail down the OAuth part of the 1DayLater API, which is coming along rather nicely. Morten Fangel, the veritable OAuth boffin is landing in bonny Newcastle on Monday and together we will take on this specialist task.

Morten Fangel Vs David King
could you resist the temptation?

Being a hospitable bunch, he’s staying with me and Paul in the family home for a few nights, and we’ll no doubt subject the man to some highly cultural evenings… That is if Beer, Curries and a ragtag of good mates counts as cultural!

We’ll write about the social funtimes, and the technical progress next week. If anyone is interested in meeting Morten before buggers off back to Denmark, we’ll (probably) be free on Tuesday and Wednesday evening next week - get in touch!

Bark like a dog! Stand on one leg!

Heehee, exiting! As you know, me and Paul have been chosen as the case study for Sunderland Software City (which is awesome in it’s own right) and today we posed for some publicity snaps! They sent local photographer Christopher Best to the bibliodesk (aka library) and were asked to look at laptops, hold business cards, pretend to have a conversation, sit back-to-back, bark like a dog and stare ponderously into the future (well, out of a window). Quite nicely Paul sneaked in a quick snap of Chris

Word up!

Now I’m wondering where these pics will end up?

Also, the Sunderland boys hired out Persuasion PR to write a press release to go with the photies and I was nicely suprised to see that an old school friend Emily Dobby was heading up the whole thing! Legendary

The home office

After much deliberation over location, me and Paul agreed that Westgate Road is the perfect spot for a new home with our 1DayLater office. It’s central, up-market, fairly priced, well sized, and generally ticks all the boxes. I’ll be sad to leave my friends in Fenham, but the home office will allow us to be a lot more productive, so it’s cool.

The house hunt begins tomorrow

The smallest house on the street

What you can’t see, is on the other side of this particular street is Newcastle Science City, a place that I am completely and utterly obsessed with. And if you were to look out of a top-floor window you can see the entire plot beneath you. If we can find the right spot then I’ll definitely be setting up a daily-snapshot-camera affair to record the place being built! Lovely.
